Pair Arrested, Handgun Recovered In Atlantic City: Police

A handgun and 164 grams of marijuana were recovered during a pair of arrests in Atlantic City, authorities said.

On Monday, May 15, Detectives Alberto Valles, Eric Evans, and Christopher Dodson and Officer Ivaylo Ivanov were targeting the area of Bellevue and Florida Avenues in response to complaints from residents regarding the illegal sale of drugs.

At 1:20 p.m., the officers were observing a vehicle in the first block of south Bellevue Avenue.

The passenger, Ronaldo Paul, was witnessed engaging in a drug transaction with an individual.

The officers conducted a motor vehicle stop after the vehicle drove off. Paul was arrested after being found in possession of marijuana packaged for sale, police said.

The driver, Steven Jaquez-Perez, was taken into custody after a search of the vehicle. 

During the search, detectives located a handgun loaded with hollow-point ammunition and additional marijuana packaged for sale. In total, more than 164 grams of marijuana was recovered, police said.

Jaquez-Perez, 25, of Atlantic City. and Paul, 24, also of Atlantic City were charged with multiple drug and weapons offenses.

Both men were sent to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
